V4B: Tournament Trophy Revealed

Commanders,

I’ve been sitting on some exciting news for some time, which I’ve been waiting to share with you when we reached this point in the tournament. In past games I had considered the idea of giving away a prize for the winner many times, but I wanted to keep the games “friendly.” However, Mike Churchill (a.k.a. Warboss Grimdakka) approached me a few weeks ago with the idea of creating a customized “trophy” for the winner of this V4B tournament, and after seeing his preliminary photos I couldn’t resist.

So this years champion will be given their very own Hank Cowdog (http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/infopages/page432.html) custom built terrain creation! Mike even put the V4B logo on the side, so whoever wins will have bragging rights whenever the terrain piece is used. I will cover any shipping costs that may apply.

Mike you did a fantastic job, and I really appreciate the time and effort you put into it.

Trophy Details:

The top communications array can be removed and the terrain used as a strongpoint or other building.

It is large enough that the top can hold 10 models with the comm array in place, or 16 regular models without it.

It is not obvious from the photos, but the building actually flares from top to bottom (like a truncated pyramid). It is made of foam-core board, cereal box cardboard, plastic cut from a garage sale sign, a little "granny grating" plastic mesh, a little paper and balsa wood (for trim around the door and covering the foam-core edges on the base), and some plastic bits and pieces I had laying around for the comm array.

The base is 7.5" on a side. The building (without the fins on the sides) is a bit over 5" at the base, and tapers to a bit under 5" at the top. It is 6.5" tall, and 11.5" tall with the comm array on top. The comm array covers about 2" X 3" of the top structure (which has about 4" X 4" of open space w/out the comm array there.

Communications Array is made up of:

· The plastic holder for the inkjet cartridges for my Canon Printer (this is the base)
· A plastic plug for wooden doors (from the construction of my folks house - this forms the tower
· Some granny grating
· Two plastic tops from cardboard milk cartons (the ones with plastic pourspouts - these are the small radar dishes
· The plastic insert from a deodorant stick (this is the long radar dish
· The dishes are held in place with small nails
· The very top of the comm array has the remnants of an earbud headphone
· There are some bent nails for piping under
the tower - not very visible in the photo
· All spray-painted black, drybrushed with grey, then black, and then tan house paint. Lightly drybrushed with orange for a rusty, neglected look to it.

Most Excellent Mike C!

I'd like to just get this out here...

Out of the kindness of my heart, I am offering a spot on my terrain shelf for this beauty. So, if you win this, I will gladly put it in a cherished (and safe) environment where it can be loved, admired, and as all terrain should be, used!

So, remember, if you find that you need a loving home for your Hank the Cowdog original, please conscider me!

This message in no way implies endorsement by the management. All funds are donated by Americans for Hank the Cowdog.

LoL! Let me know if you get any takers. :)

I'm kind of surprised no one else has commented on Mike's great work. I thought people would be a little more excited/appreciative about having such a kewl custom built prize to play for.

This is an impressive piece of work. Nicely done!

I especially like the 'Looks like someone bagged one of Ripley's bad guys' corroded holes in the decking.

Very nice :) I like the way the paint looks (did a good job on the rusted bits especially :P)

Imaginative application of that annoying little plastic bit from deodorant as well :)

Looks like the Ork is enjoying his time spent as a model, too.(As in supermodel, not as in miniature model :P)
