Mission #7 Objective

++++ RECON ++++

The Inquisition informants that were captured/rescued turned out to be neither Inquisition aligned nor informants, but rather, a pair of treasure hunters associated with a well-known mercenary corp. called Obitus, who had left them for dead. After a thorough interrogation session the “informants” were less than helpful with regards to this so-called “red dog,” claiming ignorance to such.

However, with the fate of their lives in the balance, they did mention that the merc corp. was in search for an Imperial transponder that had been recently erected suspiciously in an area not noted for Imperial activity. Unfortunately the area is swarming with enemy forces, presumably whom are also looking for this transponder. If there is any hope of tying the existence of this transponder and the “red dog,” these enemy forces must be dealt with first.

Army Size: 500 points (Patrol)

Mission Objective: King of the Hill (Spearhead)

Victory Conditions: The Commander who is able to capture and hold the Objective by the end of Turn 6 will be the victor. If the Objective is contested or otherwise unoccupied at the end of Turn 6, then the game will continue for another Turn. If the Objective is still contested or otherwise unoccupied, the game will continue, Turn by Turn, until a Commander has completed the Victory Conditions by the end of the Turn.

Only Troop choices, or units granted the “Last Stand” designation, may capture the Objective, and they must do so by coming within 3” of the Objective while keeping all enemy units more than 3” away. Units that are Pinned (or Gone to Ground) or Falling Back may not contest nor capture the Objective.

If, for whatever reason a clear winner cannot be determined regardless of the amount of Turns allowed, then the game will end at the end of the Turn when this situation has arose, ending the game with a tactical draw. Each Commander will then be awarded 1 VP point.

Last Stand Special Rule: If a Commander has had all of their Troop choice Units destroyed, or has no Troop choices on the board, they may designate a single unit that may capture the Objective. This is a one time, last ditch effort event. This can only take place at the start of the Commander’s turn, before Reserve or Deep Strike rolls are made. Any Unit type in your army is eligible (Vehicles, Bikes, Elite, Heavy, etc). If a unit has a designated Troop Transport attached, the Commander must specify whether the troop or the transport is getting the Last Stand designation.

Vehicles that are Stunned or Immobilized (and have had all their weapons destroyed) may not contest nor claim the Objective.

Game Length: 6 Turns (or until a clear winner is determined)

Scenario Special Rules: Deep Strike, Infiltrate, Seize the Initiative

Special Casualty Point Concessions:

In a normal one-on-one game, if a model is destroyed due to “Gets Hot!” special rule, or is driven off the board, then the opponent is awarded the CP’s for that model or unit. In this scenario, due to the multiple armies, if a model is lost due to a failed “Gets Hot!” test, then the Commander that was the intended target will get the CP’s for that model. Likewise, if models are destroyed due to falling off the board, then the Commander who forced that unit to fall back will get the CP’s for those models.

MAP NOTES (All LoS issues are subject to GM discretion)

Objective:

  • Does not Block LoS.
  • Cannot be picked up.
  • Does not block Assault attempts.
  • Cannot be harmed or destroyed.
  • Cannot be driven over by ground vehicles.

Large Hill:

Units Firing From the Grass (ground level)

  • The Large hill blocks LoS to ALL targets that are also on the grass (ground level) with more than 6” of hill terrain between them.
  • The Large hill blocks LoS to troop targets if firing through dark (shaded) hill areas to targets located in light (unshaded) hill areas (or visa-versa). Vehicles are valid targets, but will receive a 4+ Cover save.

Units Firing From the Large Hill

  • Units on the Large Hill have no LoS restrictions if firing upon targets that are on the same hill type area (light area to light area, dark area to dark area), unless more than 6” ruin area terrain is between them and their target.
  • Units on the Large Hill firing from light (unshaded) areas to dark (shaded) areas confer a 4+ cover save to their intended Target regardless of unit type.
  • If there is 3” or less terrain separating a shooting unit and their target, no cover save will be granted.
  • LoS is blocked if units on the Large Hill are firing at targets on the grass (ground level) from dark (shaded) area if more than 2” of light (unshaded) hill terrain type is between them (or visa-versa).

Units Firing From/To Objective Ruin Area

  • Units firing from the ruins at the top of the Large Hill have no LoS restrictions other than those that would normally apply.
  • Units firing at targets located in the ruins on top of the hill have no LoS restrictions other than those that would normally apply.

Small Hill:

  • The Small Hill blocks LoS to all unit types that are located behind it (shaded area).

Rocky Hill:

  • The Rocky Hill does not grant cover saves (unless the firing line is drawn through the trees).
  • The Rocky Hill is not Area Terrain, and thus does not block LoS and may be fired through as normal without penalty (unless the firing line is drawn through the trees, then normal area terrain and cover save rules apply).
