Championship Game: Dark Knight Defeats Ork Horde

Commanders,

Well I sure was hoping for a closer game, but to Grimdakka's credit he did not flinch (maybe cringed) against the overwhelming firepower of the Dark Knight forces that stood before him, keeping his Boyz contesting the Objective to the very end.
In hind sight, I think I should have made the Objective provide cover, to at least give whomever contested/controlled the Objective a chance to shrug off unsaved wounds. Oh well. :)

I thought both Commanders did a fine job!

Everyone help me congratulate Chapter Master Valandar Rex on his V4B Championship Victory!

Mission #9: Dark Knights Defeat Nephilim

Commanders,

Two bold commanders came together to rid the lands of Chaos tainted undead, and each other. Commander Akkon Sek, wisely seeing his valiant troops out manned and out gunned, chose to play cat and mouse with Commander Valandar Rex, allowing him to confront the rogue defenders head-on and secure a foothold into Objectives.

When the time was right, Commander Akkon drove what was left of his diminished force towards the Objectives and nearly pulled off the impossible. However, the Emperor’s might proved victorious.

Everyone help me congratulate Chapter Commander Valandar Rex on his Victory!

Mission #9: Ork Horde Defeats Witch Hunter Inquisition

Commanders,

Mother Miriam took the battlefield out numbered nearly 3 to 1, however, she fearlessly led her Sisters of the Imperium into battle with fervor and purpose in her eyes. Despite her willingness to confront death face-to-face, Warboss Grimdakka’s mighty force proved to be unstoppable this day, rolling over the Zombie Plague and either captured or contested all three objectives for the better part of the match up.

Everyone help me congratulate Warboss Grimdakka on his Victory!

Mission #8: Dark Knights Defeat Witch Hunter Inquisition

Commanders,

The Sisters of Battle stormed the battlefield, destroying the bastion that held Obitus Command and the prize, then successfully wrenched it from their cold dead hands. Mother Miriam then continued to press the attack, bringing the fight to Dark Knights in their home turf in mortal combat. Mortally wounded, she fell, but her mission successful; slow the advancing Imperial Knights long enough for her pious battle Sisters to capture and flee with the critical data.

Gravely injured himself, Valandar urged his tenacious troops onward without him. Despite loosing several loyal Marines to the treacherous mine-laden landscape, they pursued with a renewed fury. The prize was dropped and exchanged hands several times, but the determination and firepower of the Imperial Knights could not be denied, as they eliminated all foes that faced them down to the last man.

Everyone help me congratulate Chapter Master Valandar Rex on his Victory!

Mission #7: Tau Empire Defeats Space Wolves, Nephilim, & Dark Knights

Commanders,

General Ghostknife steals his first victory in the closing moments of Turn 6! Commander Akkon Sek was the first to claim the booty for his own, and successfully defended it for several turns, but left the sanctity of his perch to deal with the pesky Dark Knights. Then, with the Sons of Russ eliminated from contention, the remaining Commanders make a mad dash for the prize, but General Ghostknife had an ace in the whole. Within the confines their transport vehicle, the Fire Warriors rush the hill and capture the Objective, beating all contenders to the punch.

Everyone help me congratulate General Ghostknife on his Victory!

Mission #7: Ork Horde Defeats Thousand Sons, Hive Fleet Nemesis & Witch Hunter Inquisition

Commanders,

Warboss Grimdakka scores another victory in ork-like fashion. The Ancient Hungerer was the first to take control of the objective, and early on, seemingly had a talon tight grip on victory. The Nemesis fleet had finished off the zealous warrior priestesses of the Imperium, painted the landscape scarlet red (or perhaps snot green?) with ork blood, and had full reign over the objective mound; the taste of victory was palpable.

However, after polishing off the Sons of Magnus the Red, the ork horde rolled, and stormed the hill like maddened berserkers, and managed to exterminate the hive mind Warriors. This left the remaining brood virtually helpless, making it nearly impossible for them to rally. Warboss Grimdakka directed his Boyz to clean up any stragglers and claimed the Objective untested.

Everyone help me congratulate Warboss Grimdakka on his Victory!

Mission #6: Space Wolves vs. Hive Fleet Nemesis - Draw

Commanders,

Another one comes down to the wire, as the crafty Ancient Hungerer and his Brood are able to capture the remaining Objective in the final turn. Wolf Lord Morkai and his hungry Sons of Russ took control of the first Objective, and the game, early on in the match. With guns a blazin', reminiscent of "The Guns of Navarone" in the Greek isles during WWII, the toothy canine warriors decimated the seemingly endless swarms of Tyranids as they made their way towards the objectives.

However, it wasn't just there Imperial guns that were effective; a single squad of hardened Wolf Scout veterans held off and defeated several swarms of bugs for many turns before a lone wolf elder was torn to shreds by a fresh and ravenous Gaunt Brood squad. Despite their overwhelming extermination of the space bugs, the Ancient Hungerer is able to pull out a draw in the the closing moments of the game.

Everyone help me congratulate Wolf Lord Lars Morkia and The Ancient Hungerer on their game well played!

Mission #6: Ork Horde Defeats Tau Empire

Commanders,

Warboss Grimdakka scores another victory in a brutal battle that left many dead on both sides of the conflict. Grimdakka's Boyz took heavy casualties from start to finish, as they fell in droves to the ballistic might of General Ghostknife's xenos warriors. Despite loosing more than 85% his forces, Warboss Grimdakka and his Boyz got the job done. At one point the greenskins held both Objectives for several turns before loosing one in the final phase of battle due to the well placed shots of Tau Fire Warriors. Unfortunately it just wasn't enough this day.

Everyone help me congratulate Warboss Grimdakka on his Victory!

Mission #6: Nephilim vs. Witch Hunter Inquisition - Draw

Commanders,

Commander Akkon Sek and the zealous Sisters of Battle face off for the first time, and it didn't take long for them to get acquainted, as Mother Miriam was the first to draw blood; felling (2) Noise Marines in the first volley of Storm Bolter shots from the Dominion Squad.

Comander Sek quickly retaliated and got revenge by blowing up their Immolator transport vehicle with Krak Grenades, sending a crescendo of hot molten metal flying across the battlefield; killing both Nephilim warriors and Battle Sister alike indiscriminately. Both commanders were able to secure an objective, denying each other victory.

Everyone help me congratulate Commander Akkon Sek and Mother Miriam on their game well played!

Mission #5: Thousand Sons Defeat Space Wolves

Commanders,

Another army falls in a hellfire storm of Inferno Bolts from the mighty Thousand Sons. The long awaited rematch, or sorts, of Magnus the Red and Primarch Leman Russ took place finally. After suffering a defeat by the hands of Russ and his Wolves so many years ago, the Thousand Sons and the Space Wolves finally meet on the battlefield once again.

Lieutenant Colonel Malus cleverly took refuge inside the domed building in the center of the map at the start, using this bastion as a centerpiece, he served death on a platter to the Sons of Russ. In droves the tenacious Space Wolves fell unceremoniously to the icy ground in pools of their own life force as they advanced to meet death. The Sons of Russ are no stranger to facing overwhelming odds, and courageously pressed the attack despite heavy casualties; but to no avail.

The Rubric Marines were just too much for the space vikings this day. Wolf Lord Lars Morkai was seen leaving the battlefield with a raised-clinched fist, vowing to have his revenge in this life or the next; but it was the Sons of Magnus that had their revenge this day.

Everyone help me congratulate Lieutenant Colonel Malus on his Victory!

Mission #5: Ork Horde Defeats Hive Fleet Nemesis

Commanders,

Warboss Grimdakka scores another victory in a barn burner. In the beginning, The Ancient Hungerer's Nemesis Fleet feasted hungrily on the walking fungus; the Warrior's Deathspitters reducing the green horde into a soupy mush. The situation was looking quite... err grim for Grimdakka; his forces were disappearing faster than a bag of donuts in an Imperium meeting room. The Ancient Hungerer, as it seemed, had the game well in hand.

However, Warboss Grimdakka is no stranger to death; he rallied his paltry forces, and in a matter of a turn or so had regained the upper hand, his Boyz making short work of the squishy bugs in mortal combat, his Deffkoptas dealing out death with uncanny impunity. The Ancient Hungerer rallied as well, calling forth a seemingly endless supply of hungry mutated insects. Despite their ferocity, they lacked killing just a single Ork to claim victory away from Grimdakka's Boyz; just 8 points separated the two tenacious Commanders!

Everyone help me congratulate Warboss Grimdakka on his Victory!

Mission #5: Nephilim Defeats Tau Empire

Commanders,

Commander Akkon Sek and his drug induced warriors get their first win of the tournament by defeating last years champ; General Ghostknife. Only 10 points separated the winner and the loser in this match, indicitive of how closely contested the match was.

Each commander traded blows, until Commander Akkon took refuge in the building that the Tau force had no means to harm. In a gutsy move, General Ghostknife positioned his last remaining squad in a covert position to obscure them from the enemy, while allowing him a chance to steal victory away from Nephilim by firing his fire and forget missiles in realtive safety. However, the tough as nails Nephilim bandoleers walked away with out a scratch and sealed their fate as victors.

Commanders,

Mother Miriam had a tough road to plow from the word go facing off against the very shooty Chapter of the Dark Knights. Regardless, the courageous Sisters of Battle charged across the battlefield headlong; fearless. Despite seeing their fellow Adepta Sororitas torn mercilessly to Imperial bits by the blazing guns of Chapter Master Valandar's futuristic knights, they rushed to meet their fate; relentlessly.

Equally relentless, was the massive fire power of the Dark Knights Adeptus Astartes, who annihilated the Battle Sisters down to the last man... WOHman.

Mission #4: Dark Knights Defeat Tau Empire

Commanders,

The final game of Mission #4 has come to a close. This game was a clash of two very shooty armies; both sides with heavy casualties from the sound of the bell. General Ghostknife cleverly used the terrain to deny Chapter Master Valandar Rex line of sight to many of his units, including his unit of Stealthsuits, who managed to wreak havok on Master Valandar's squads without loosing man in return.

However, Master Valandar had a plan of his own, and moved his heavy units forward into better firing positions; a move that paid off very well in the end. In the closing moments of Turn 5, General Ghostknife captures the only unoccupied objective, seemingly securing a draw for the mission, only to have them subsequently forced off the board from taking casualties.

Everyone help me congratulate Chapter Master Valandar Rex on his Victory!

Mission #4: Ork Horde Defeats Space Wolves

Commanders,

This battle started out brutal and "wet", with Wolf Lord Morkai's Space Wolves charging headlong into the seeming endless scores of Orks without hesitation, sinking his fangs deep into their ranks, and eventually devouring two full squads.

However, Warboss Grimdakka showed that his Boyz aren't all brawn and dakka; they are kunnin' too, snatching victory away from the would-be Imperial hounds in the waning seconds of the final turn, by rushing his lone Deffkopter forward to contest the final objective. This game was literally decided by a single inch.

Everyone help me congratulate Warboss Grimdakka on his Victory!

Mission #4: Nephilim vs. Hive Fleet Nemesis - Draw

Commanders.

Another very close game decided in the final turn. Commander Akkon Sek seemed to control the game from the very start. Things started to go down hill for The Ancient Hungerer and his ferocious brood after his Warriors successfully brought down the building in a mass explosion that splattered several hive-brothers.

Relentlessly, the Nemesis Hive pursued the juiced up Marine warriors of Nephilim, and in return, they relentlessly mowed them down in succession. Despite scoring more CP’s in a single game than anyone in the tournament thus far, catapulting him to the #1 CP earner spot, Commander Akkon just couldn’t keep the endless streams of Tyranids from claiming the final objective.

Everyone help me congratulate Commander Akkon Sek and The Ancient Hungerer on a game well played!

Mission #4: Thousand Sons vs. Witch Hunter Inquisition - Draw

Commanders,

Lieutenant Colonel Malus’ ruinous Rubric warriors pull out a draw in the final turn of the game. Things were looking grim for Tzeench’s chosen, as Mother Miriam cleverly drew a unit of Thousand Sons out from their Objective and tied them up in mortal combat for a few turns, but even with his Force Weapon dulled by the presence of the Adepta Sororitas, the Aspiring Sorcerer made short work of the Emperors pious lady warriors.

As the last of the Dominion squad crumbled under the foot of the Thousand Sons, the Aspiring Sorcerer led his spirit warriors to the objective just in time to hold out defeat.

Mission #3: Witch Hunter Inquisition Defeats Tau Empire

Commanders,

With her second Total Annihilation victory of the tournament, Mother Miriam is proving that like Texas, you don't mess with nuns with guns! The early turns showed some cat and mouse play, but as the two valiant armies clashed, the Sisters of Battle demonstrated their ability to belch flames and super heated rays of death to squelch any army they face.

Despite throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the Immolator, General Ghostknife's Tau warriors just could not snuff out the Mulimelta nestled on it's cupola; and he would pay dearly for it. In quick succession, the Immolator blew both Tau Transports to smithereens, leaving nothing but craters in their wake.

Everyone help me congratulate Mother Miriam on her victory!

Mission #3: Space Wolves Defeat Nephilim

Commanders,

Another first victory of the tournament, this time for the tenacious Wolf Lord Lars Morkai. Things started out a little shaky for the Sons of Russ in the early rounds, having one unit nearly forced off the board by a crescendo of heavy fire from Commander Akkon Sek's chemically enhanced Marines.

However, the dogged Space Wolves never gave up; a timely appearance of the Wolf Scouts in Turn 3 turned the tide. After several turns of brutal hand-to-hand combat, the Wolf Scouts were finally able to dispatch a unit of mulish chaotic Nephilim marines, then like a pack of starved wolves, Wolf Lord's wolf pack descended upon the remaining Nephilim unit and devoured them down to the man.

Mission #3: Dark Knights Defeat Hive Fleet Nemesis

Commanders,

Chapter Master Valandar Rex gets his first victory of the tournament in a sleeper. The Ancient Hungerer realized early on that his Hive was severely out matched; lots of firepower + open terrain does not equal good victory conditions for Tyranid armies. The Ancient Hungerer chose a reverse "hit & run" tequnique to equal the odds; a plan that nearly worked had it not been for a pesky set of ruins occupying a large portion of the middle of the board.

Good shootin' Rex!
